Thanksgiving generates gatherings, generosity and great slabs of turkey. And this week, Metro Detroiters will have a chance at all three.

Today, the Detroit-based Inland Waters Pollution Control will donate 750 free turkeys to city residents from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its headquarters at 4086 Michigan.

Also today, the Detroit chapter of the Black McDonald’s Operators Association is giving away 500 turkeys along with 500 bags of groceries to nonprofits for families facing hunger.
