Detroit — Mayor Dave Bing on Thursday announced a restructuring of the Detroit Police Department, including the appointment of two assistant chiefs.
Bing, along with Interim Police Chief Chester L. Logan, outlined the plans during a news conference at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center. The mayor said the reorganization is expected to save the city about $1 million annually and meets the requirements of the federal consent decree.
